CommunO2 was first envisioned by Joel Ackerman over 20 years ago.
Born in the 1950′s, he is of the baby boom generation now being called the ‘Silver Tsunami’. In the early 1990′s while assessing the future, the thought struck him that neither he nor his wife Karen ever wanted to be a burden to their 4 children. And so he began to dream. If age, frailty, disease or disability require lifestyle changes or extra help around the house, Joel (like so many others) wants to remain as independent as possible, for as long as possible. Designing a new model of care and support that would enable them to age comfortably and safely in their own home, or wherever they choose or need to live, was the momentum behind CommunO2. Beginning with the design for the family home, the concept has grown to encompass all aspects of living, with a focus on thriving.
CommunO2 looks at each aspect of a full life and works to meet these needs.
From Home Maintenance to Volunteerism
From Video Calls with family to Banking, Healthcare and Business.
Joel’s vision is to provide families, caregivers and individuals with the community and resources needed to live connected and full lives in whatever life dishes up.
